Formally a chain of volcanic islands, the Tortuguero National Park is a perfect location for green and leatherback turtles to nest and for baby turtles to make their first trek into the ocean. No roads to Tortuguero means it is only accessible by boat, and the remote location keeps the rainforest virtually untouched. Get ready to spot sloths, monkey, Toucan Sam, crocodiles, colorful frogs and butterflies.
On the first day you will enjoy breakfast at the Exploration Center in Siquirres then ride to Caño Blanco and access the main canal of the National Park. Your Tortuguero Adventure begins as we board the boats and head up the channels on the way to our hotel. Our eco-friendly hotel is located only 5 minutes by boat from the Tortuguero National park where the Turtle Nesting Observtion Tours are the highlight attraction in the Caribbean region of Costa Rica. At the hotel you will enjoy a delicious lunch followed by a visit to the Tortuguero village.
On the second day you will take a boat into the jungle and explore the lagoons and hidden canals. The Tortuguero National Park has eleven different habitats, so you can experience rain forests, mangrove forests, swamps, beaches, and lagoons. Feel free to ask any questions of your knowledgeable guide as you hike together through the south side of this beautiful reserve. If you are lucky enough to schedule your vacation while the Green Turtles are nesting (July - October), or the the Leatherbacks (February - June) and other lesser common species of turtles who nest between the summer months; do not miss out on the optional guided turtle observation tours at night!

Tortuguero Hostel & Backpackers
Only a 5 minute walk to Tortuguero Beach and just steps from the Tortuguero National Park, the Tortuguero Hostel is a backpackers dream. The small hotel was built in 2014 in the traditional brightly colored Caribbean style. Some rooms are facing the lake with amazing views of the sunset. Other rooms face the Tortugueo canals.
