Children: Minimum age is 8 years old. Children pay same as adult.
Restrictions: Costa Rica canyoning & river rafting are both a lot of fun, yet challenging activities. You must be in good physical condition to participate in either activity. The class II/III rapids of the Balsa River are considered mild to moderate to navigate, so a great option for the whole family. For more information on the classes of rivers, see our blog. You will be asked to sign a waiver that you have no underlying conditions such as previous heart, back or neck conditions that could make river rafting in Costa Rica not a safe choice of activities for you.
Insider Tip: Waterfall rappelling in Costa Rica is one of those activities you just do not get the chance to experience in other vacation destinations. Better yet, the lush rainforest the canyon is located in is spectacular. My advice, opt for the professional photos for both of these activities. You will be having too much fun to worry about adjusting you GoPro. Leave it to the professionals. Also, both activities will get you soaking wet, so this is one of our favorite things do to in La Fortuna, even on a rainy day.
